Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers for care professionals, facilities, and families — how vetting, pay, billing, and booking actually work at TrueCare™.

What credentials do I need?
It depends on your role. PSWs need a NACC certificate; RPNs and RNs need CNO registration; Developmental Support Workers (DSWs) need a DSW certificate; Cooks and Dietary Aides need a Food Handler Licence. Companions don't need a role-specific certification. Everyone needs a Vulnerable Sector Check, TB test, vaccination records, and government ID.
What happens after I apply?
You'll get a secure sign-in link by email to complete your application and upload your credentials in your portal. Our team reviews every application within two business days and contacts you with next steps.
Am I an employee?
No — care professionals are independent contractors. You set your own availability and are always free to accept or decline any shift, and to work with others.
Can I work facility shifts and home care visits, or do I have to choose?
Both. Tell us the type of work you want during onboarding — long-term care shifts, home visits, or a mix — and we'll match you accordingly.
How and when do I get paid?
We pay by direct bank deposit (EFT) on a biweekly cycle by default, with a weekly option. You get a statement of earnings for every payout.
Do you take a cut of my pay?
The rate you see on a shift offer is the rate you're paid. No hidden deductions, no surprises on your statement of earnings.
What happens when one of my credentials expires?
Your expiry dates are on file in your portal, and an expired credential automatically pauses new offers until it's updated. Keep your documents current in your portal to stay eligible for shifts.
How do I change my availability?
Right in your portal, any time. Your availability drives which shifts you're offered, so keeping it current means better matches.
